Naomi siegel - Trombonist, composer, educator & community organizer
Trombonist, composer, educator, and community organizer Naomi Moon Siegel creates work geared towards authentic expression and honest connection. A winner of an Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award and recent inductee into the Missoula Blues & Jazz Society Hall of Fame, her expressive trombone playing is changing the way the trombone is generally heard and viewed. She is a committed educator and the founder of Lakebottom Sound – a non-profit organization dedicated to nourishing creative music in Missoula through concerts, classes and improvisation sessions.
Siegel is one half of the folk/punk/jazz duo Syrinx Effect, a member of Wayne Horvitz’s ensembles and an active part of the Seattle and Missoula music scenes, performing regionally and internationally. She has performed and collaborated with March Fourth Marching Band, Julian Priester, Allison Miller, Ahamefule J. Oluo, Stuart Dempster, Skerik, Jessica Lurie, Tata Dindin and the Salaam Band, and Thione Diop.
